~B&D bought-out this great technology from 'Vector'-inc. -(which unit i've formerly mentioned suddenly quit-working permanently after a happy period of having revamped several 12v-batteries (Note: -these Smart-chargers do not have a 6v function). This new one by B&D cost: $67.49 (-to my door), arriving very well packaged (double-boxed), the inner-box is a well made 'point-of-purchase' carton which will serve to stow the 'Smart'-charger during disuse if desired. The Instruction-booklet is informative, and the vital bat./Terminal-clips are excellent quality all-metal (clearly color-coded red & black) and nicely formed for very comfortable-handling and good terminal 'bite'. I immediately attached it to my dead AMG-type(sealed) Optima-battery (-which i had brought up to 10v. via a conventional 8-amp. charger), and as expected this new 'Smart'-charger would merely run for a minute then shut-off indicating the 4-year Optima-bat. to be badly 'sulfated', --which condition prevents charging. Accordingly, i have now run the Optima through 5-days of it's special 24hr. 'desulfation'-process, and each time the Smart-charger voltage-test encouragingly indicates an initially improved reading. Was only showing 10.6v @ 1st-Desulfation, 11.5v @ 2nd-Desulfation, 12v. @ 3rd-Desulfation, 12.5v @ 4th-Desulfation, and now only 12.7v @ 5th-Desulfation. Thus at no fault of the Smart-charger, it appears the Optima is very border-line as to operation (since the Smart-charger will only charge the Optima at a sparse 0.20-amps because of the sulfated-condition, --i am presently force-charging the Optima-bat. on only 8-amps. via my old conventional transformer-type Bat.-charger which tapers down to 2-amps.) --then we'll try another 24hr/Desulfation procedure); --that is to hope it may be revived sufficiently to possibly be useful if i drive the car every day, --but if i leave it sitting for say 3-5 days it will likely not hold a charge that long. Regardless, so far, the B&D/Smart-charger is performing very well; --and i like the 'spiffie looking' Industrial-orange & black styling. If it keeps operating satisfactorily, -i'll remain a happy buyer; --will keep you posted here..!!!

I have used a tons of chargers and this one works great. It is light and not being metal will not rust. The product has great options for differnt batteries and charging requirements. It was sent ahead of time!

I had one of those produced by Vector before Black and Decker takeover. Its a great unit while it worked. One Day just after two years of purchased it and used about twenty times (Just keeping my Boat Batteries charged), the unit started with an F03 error meaning the Battery was bad. Not sure it was the Battery, I tested the charger in three other Batteries all with the same F03. Called Black and Decker for Warranty Support. The first thing was they asked if I keep the Original Purchase Receipt. That was It, No Receipt No Warranty, no matter I had the Credit Card Statement showing the purchase of $69.00 at Pep's Boys. That was the end. The Rep told me "That's why you must staple the receipt to the Manual.
Will never buy from Black and Decker again!
